Chapter Thirty-Four
I’m the one who’s married. Married and totally ecstatic. I feel
like a schoolgirl. It all seems so silly. I’m pretty sure he’s loving
the attention and not just from one but two women! He is
spending much less time with Erica (which makes me very
happy). I’m pretty sure he’s still visiting her room late at night
but honestly, the attraction is so darned strong for me, I don’t
care. This is something I’ve never experienced before.
It’s a harrowing bus ride, flying over bumps, hills and the
dusty mountainous back roads of Egypt. These last few days
I am feeling thankful just to be alive. I will admit it’s also fun
experiencing the drama and excitement with Gord beside me.
We laugh, grit our teeth, hold on tight and then laugh some
more.
Everyone’s pretty thrilled when we arrive in Cairo. There’s
an energy bustling in this city of over 9.5 million people.
Everyone is abuzz as we check into the lavish King Farouk’s
Palace. The towering Turkish architecture presides over the
lush grounds which reach out to the Mediterranean. Someone
pinch me! How is it that we get to actually stay in such a place?
After a quick shower and a bit of sprucing, I drop by Gord’s
room. He’s hanging out with three women, including Erica!
This guy sure has no problem attracting the opposite sex. We
are all like groupies as we wait for him to get ready before
heading out for the group dinner cruise on the Nile.
The next day, we visit the Pyramids and The Great Sphinx
of Giza. Gord is a history buff and everything about Egypt
excites him. We do many things together, including riding
camels beside the Pyramids and the Sphinx. These exotic
experiences are certainly adding a dash of romance to this trip.
Sharm El Sheikh is a beautiful resort town on the southern
tip of the Sinai Peninsula. I was here on my last tour and
I’m excited to show it all to Gord. We spend the afternoon
