Reason To Sing

snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters, in awe of the magical
underwater kingdom. It’s like nothing we’ve ever seen before.
The whole day is like a Disney movie and I’m feeling very
          much like a princess.
In the early evening before dinner, I call over to his room.
“Hey, it’s me. What are you doing?” I ask nonchalantly.
“Not much. Just waiting to go to dinner.”
“You want to come over to my room?” I boldly inquire.
“Sure. When should I come over?”
Excited that he’s agreed, and hoping he doesn’t hear it in
my voice, “Well, anytime is good.”
“Okay, sounds great. I’ll see you in a bit then.”
He said, yes. Oh my God! This is my chance.
I check myself in the bathroom mirror. Hair slicked back
in a braid, Sade-style (I can’t wear it any other way in this
humidity) and make-up not too heavy. My body has some nice
sun from the day on the water. I apply the creamy coconut
scented après-sun lotion. Might as well smell yummy. I can feel
          my heart quickening.
There is a knock at my door and my heart goes into full
overdrive. I check the peep hole and yes, it’s him. I am nervous,
but much more excited as I answer the door.
I am dressed, of course, but only just. An obvious under-
garment is missing. Oops! Okay, sue me, but the man is
gorgeous, and I am unreserved in pursuing him. It may be
humiliating but I have no shame. I am throwing myself at him.
          And I don’t care!
It works. He takes the bait. In what seems like one simple
          heartbeat, my life changes forever.
And now we are - lovers. Call me a hopeless romantic but
I truly believe Gord is the man of my dreams. The one I have
been waiting for all my life. I feel like I’ve finally found him. It
