Chapter Thirty-Four

getting to know Gord) but also concerned. Major Howard,
the same Major I had the fling with six months ago, is once
again in charge of this tour. He’s been extremely friendly since
boarding the aircraft. In fact, he made sure we are seated beside
one another for the flight. By all indications he is very keen on
            continuing where we left off.
I am not keen at all. That was a one-off. Old news. I am far
more interested in new news, and HE is sitting just one seat
            away.
There is definitely a positive connection developing
between Gord and me. It’s pretty easy to be attracted to this
guy. Not only is he handsome but he’s talented and funny too!
Such a great combo. He’s singing some background vocals for
me in the show which is pretty cool. I could be converting a
            jazz snob to country.
When we go out for our first dinner in Germany, I’m
hoping Gord and I will be seated at the same table. No such
luck. He ends up sitting at a different table beside the head
dancer, Erica. You can’t miss her. She’s the one with the legs
that never stop. It’s obvious from the jump that Erica has her
eyes on Gord. Actually, a lot more than just her eyes! After
a few drinks those two are giddy and feeding food to one
another. I’m quite certain they are making everyone else sick.
            Okay, maybe not everyone.
In the days that follow, Gord and Erica continue to flaunt
their flirtatious relationship. He and I are also getting to know
each other but not like they are. We don’t have any late-night
rendezvous (word travels fast in this tight little entourage) but
we do have some great laughs and I can tell Gord likes my
company. But he’s a friendly guy and likes everybody!
In my corner, the good Major continues to work on
rekindling some old flames. Still no spark here. Not one
