RADICAL LOVE

alone. We must always remain mindful of the fact that any good in us

has been worked out by grace from the Father. This will keep us
          humble.

Verse 4 is a significant verse for the times in which we live.
In the NIV translation, it reads:

“Your neck is like the tower of David, built with courses of stone;” (in

other translations it says: “built for an arsenal”) “on it hang a thousand
shields, all of them shields of warriors.”

The neck denotes strength, and comparing it with the tower of David
and the stone immediately tells us that this is a place of exceedingly

great and impenetrable strength. It goes on to mention that around this
neck—or tower—hang a thousand shields, and they are all shields of

          warriors.

In Ephesians 6, the Apostle Paul discusses the importance of being
strong in the Lord and His mighty power. He instructs the believers in

Ephesus to put on the armor of God, and in verse 16 (NIV), he refers
          to the shield of faith:

“…take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the

flaming arrows of the evil one.”

In essence, this is what is being said here: The neck supports the head,

in which the battles for our minds take place. As we pursue God and
become strong in His mighty power, our faith grows. In God’s time, we

will increase to the point that we gain victory not only over the little
