     RADICAL LOVE
In verse five, we read that she has reached a level of maturity that makes
her ready to disciple others. The Lord entrusts to her the task of
nurturing believers on His behalf. He has prepared her to be a shepherd
after His own heart—to lead those who are still infants. As they hear of
her personal journey of discipleship with God, it will imbue them with
hope and encouragement to grow likewise in their faith.
We need disciples of Jesus, not just mere believers! The world is crying
out for laid-down, sacrificial lovers of Jesus who will exhibit Christ-
like lives of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
The final part of this session is a pivotal verse, where the Shulamite
makes her determined choice to become the Bride, no matter the cost.
In other translations, it mentions going to Him on the mountain of
myrrh and the hill of frankincense. As mentioned in the previous
session (see Song of Songs 3:6), we know that myrrh signifies death,
and frankincense represents the ministry of Jesus.
Finally, because of His love and encouragement, gentleness, and
affirmation of her, she has made up her mind to follow Him and be His
Bride—despite the awareness of weaknesses and lingering shadows in
her life. The deeper our relationship with God, the more acutely aware
we become of the darkness still residing within us. Our spiritual
progress, however, is a journey of love and unconditional acceptance.
Only the Holy Spirit can sanctify us—we cannot change ourselves.
