SESSION 10 : Song of Songs Chapter 4:7-11

11 Your loving words are like the honeycomb to me; your tongue

releases milk and honey, for I find the Promised Land flowing within
you. The fragrance of your worshipping love surrounds you with

          scented robes of white.

e left chapter 9 with the Shulamite finally accepting the

proposal put to her by the King in chapter 2, verse 10—

to: “Come away” and be His bride regardless of the cost.

We now start this session, which is referred to in some commentaries

as “The Call to the Heavenlies.” Notice that it is the King who calls—
the invitation to come higher is extended by the Lord and given to those

who have been faithful to obey and yield at His behest, and are now

ready to progress further into revelatory knowledge of Who He is.

The more revelation we receive regarding Who actually lives on the

inside of us—and in Whom we live and move and have our being—the
more faith-filled and powerful we become. This then enables us to live

and operate from a greater degree of rest.

It is also worth noting that, in our previous session, the Shulamite had

just accepted the Bridegroom’s call to the mountain of myrrh and the

hill of frankincense. She had realized that He was her life, and she
needed to follow Him—whatever the price.

Watchman Nee wrote very powerfully about the cost of following
Christ in his book on the Song of Songs:
