CHAPTER 6
T
oday at school, we had big news. We went to the gym and
waited for the announcements.
Our principal, Mrs. Wilkinson, stepped onto the stage and
addressed the crowd. “Good morning, staff and students. As you all
know, graduation is just around the corner.”
The gym buzzed with quiet agreement. She smiled and said, “To
celebrate, your teachers and I have planned a Paradise Dance for the
entire school!”
Cheers and applause erupted instantly.
Most were excited about a dance party on graduation day, but
honestly, I wasn’t thrilled. Why? Because I don’t really know how to
dance—well, except for that one silly move I picked up as a kid, but
that doesn’t count.
Mrs. Wilkinson went on, “There’s a twist, though. Kindergarteners
will have a pizza and dance party in the morning. Elementary students,
in Grades 1 through 5, will participate in a costume-themed dance
party. And the middle schoolers, Grades 6 through 8, will have a date
dance party.”
Some kids were disappointed they wouldn’t get pizza like the little
ones, while others were excited about the chance to dance with their
crush.
