SESSION 7

left, some of that congregation were emboldened to stand up for the

          truth of God’s Word.

The chapter continues with the response of the Shulamite. She has

heard the entreaty of the Lord to arise and follow Him, and His
command to now deal with the compromises in her life that would

thwart her fruitfulness. However, her reply indicates that she is not yet

ready for this next step of faith. Yes, she has reached a level of intimacy
with her Beloved and security in her identity as a child of God; She

knows the sound of His voice, understands the call to take up one’s
cross, and is aware of the need for the manifestation of the resurrection

separation. As I read these words, the Holy Spirit quickened me and
led me to 2 Corinthians 6:16–18 and also Romans 8:18–19. Let me

          explain:

          2 Corinthians 6:16–18 (TPT) reads:

“For indeed, we are the temple of the living God, just as God has said:

‘I will make my home in them and walk among them. I will be their God
and they will be my people.’ For this reason, ‘Come out from among

them and be separate,’ says the Lord. ‘Touch nothing that is unclean,
