should model to the world. The Shulamite is no casual Christian; she is
a strong, victorious Overcomer in Christ. She stands above her peers
because she was prepared to give the Holy Spirit the time to love her
into being willing to surrender, to yield to the Holy Spirit’s necessary
pruning and refining, and to share in the fellowship of Jesus’ sufferings.
Now, more than ever before, I hear in my spirit the need to strengthen
ourselves in God and get ready, so that we too may stand firm in the
days ahead. In the Gospel of Luke, chapter 21, verse 26 (NIV), it says:
“People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the
world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.”
However, the Bible also gives us the antidote to fainting—and it is
waiting! Waiting upon the Lord (see Isaiah 40:29–31 AMP). This is the
day, this is the hour, when Jesus must become the center of our lives.
Compromise, complacency, and coldness of heart must be replaced by
the power of the Holy Spirit—with fervent passion, surrender, and
sacrificial love for Christ.
As I write these words, the whole world is in turmoil because of a viral
pandemic, and it has changed the way we live and do church. God is
shaking all the man-made structures so that what remains will be of
Him and through Him alone. If we ignore what the Lord is instructing
us these days, we do so to our own detriment.
Verse 7 in the NKJV reads: “This stature of yours is like a palm tree,
and your breasts like its clusters.”
