Topic 7: Practical outrigger operation
Manual levelling system for
outriggers and jacks
Process
SAFETY NOTE
• Instructor to demonstrate manual operation of levelling.

• All students to demonstrate the full sequence (i.e., engage PTO and pressure, this may make

Extending the outriggers
Cover:
• use of manual levers and buttons to extend the outriggers.
Manual levelling
Cover the following:
• place ground plates under jacks as required
• use of the manual controls to lower jacks
• operate the jacks in pairs (front, left, or right)
• advantage of raising the front of the appliance first
• tyre contact with ground and operational leveling range
• RPM-switch
• check level indicator.
Manual Lowering
Cover the following:
1. selector and rpm switch
2. retracting of jacks and outriggers
3. manual lowering sequence
4. restoring appliance to transport position
5. warning lights.
