Cull All Your Resources

               Think hard. Consider people who share a connection with you through your hometown, your school, or a friend of a
               friend. Pick up the phone and give the person a call. The worst case, he or she will be flattered and say no.

               Stretch with Specific Intention
               Your Uncle Joe may be the smartest, nicest guy in the world, but if he doesn’t have at least a million dollars, then
               he’s not your mentor for wealth building. Remember, this team is to build your wealth; that is its specific intention
               and goal. And because kindness and wealth are not mutually exclusive virtues, we suggest you find someone who
               has both. It doesn’t behoove you, or your conscience, to make good money with bad company.

               The Most Special Can Be the Most Subtle
               Most wealth in this country is inconspicuous. Do your research. The man down the street driving the nice car and
               living in the mansion could easily have greater debt and a lower net worth than the stealthy and wealthy plumber
               who drives a beat-up truck but seems to work only when he doesn’t feel like fishing.

               Be Persuasive and Persistent, but Not Pesky
               Once you find your way in through the myriad of inevitable guard dogs, you need to take action that will show the
               mentor you will do what it takes to be coached by him or her. I’ve had many mentors in many industries throughout
               my life and my approach to getting to them has always been somewhat similar.
                  In an example that preceded my current goal in my larger vision, I called a nationally renowned wealth-building
               speaker and told him I wanted to work with him. After finally getting him on the phone in person, he told me to send
               him a letter of intent. Though others may have waited for the letter to arrive and for him to respond, I hung up the
               phone, wrote the letter, put it in the mail and called him an hour later. I told him I’d done that and asked what was
               next. He sighed and told me that if I were really interested I could get on a plane and go talk to him. I did, and ended
               up working with him for several years, helping him to build his business and his reputation, as well as my
               knowledge base and my list of what I did and did not want to do.
                  Most people talk, but few people act, and the best mentors can sense the difference between someone who is
               pushy and someone who is committed. If you have a vision, you have to show up for that vision, and that means
               getting committed to getting a mentor.
               Do Not Accept a Scripted Mentor
               There are several financial infomercials currently running that will suggest you call one of their “standing by”
               coaches, ready to help you move forward. I know, from experience, that these coaches sit in one telephone center
               where they read scripts and recite answers to frequently asked questions. This is absolutely not acceptable. You need
               a coach who will speak specifically to you, tailoring the advice to your particular needs, wants, and situation.
                  The mentor can be the first member of your team, but like all the personnel you gather, there will most likely be a
               constant influx and outflow of players.

               Gathering the Team
               That’s definitely been the case with me as my life and decisions change in advance of my bigger vision. Building a
               great team takes some experience, which includes making some mistakes. Since you need to build the team before
               you have much experience you should prepare yourself for some conflicts. With the help of your mentor or mentors,
               you should be able to find the right people. For example, given that your mentor should be at least a millionaire, he
               or she should have a good accountant who can either help you or recommend someone good in the field.
                  My team is made up of both Strategic Partners and an in-house management group, circling the hub of my
               ultimate vision. And as the vision grows and changes, my team spreads out in both concentric and interlinking
               circles, like the Big Tables in our Team-Made Millionaire community, creating not just one but several great teams
               working within this larger community of people who are eager to live out loud and build their wealth.

               Design Your Business Divorce While You’re Still in Love

               Because life has a tendency to be unpredictable, both plans and people have a tendency to change. That’s why I
