Chapter 18

Steve had never eaten anything like an Italian hot dog. It was
a pita pocket with two Italian sausages smothered in fried
green peppers, red peppers and onions then smothered in
brown mustard. This was then topped with fried potato and
sprinkled with spiced white vinegar. It was absolutely delicious.
They were all in a jovial mood as they talked, laughed, ate

looking out the large picture window. They were horrified when
they saw a canary yellow Lincoln Navigator scream off the
road, into the parking lot, and crash into the grille of Ethan’s
Lexus. Trash was the first one on the scene and ignored the
Lexus in order to assure that the driver of the Navigator was
unhurt. It was a frail-looking gray-haired woman of at least
seventy-five behind the wheel. There were no passengers.

Linda took advantage of the excitement to open her purse and
sneak some bits of food into it. Then she blew a kiss, gave a
wink, closed her purse and casually finished her lunch.

‘Oh dear, oh dear.” The old woman kept repeating. She pulled
her cellphone out of her purse and hit a few keys. “Gordon.”
She said, “I’ve just been in an accident. Need your help.” Then
she hung up and put the phone in her purse.
