“The Americans are coming.” She says. “I cannot protect us
now. There are too many.”
“Who’s coming?” Linda asks.
“The American Secret Police.” Nanosh spits. "Who else?"
“What incriminating evidence is there on this property right
now?” Trash asks with a wry smile.
“Just us. Whatever you have. ”She replies, looking at Trash
questioningly to see if he would give up their secrets. “I had
them take all the weapons away so I wouldn’t be tempted to
use one on my baby in a moment of weakness.” She looks
lovingly at Steve. “We have computers here, but nothing is
stored on them. We use thumb drives.”
“Then just let them in and play dumb. If there is nothing to
find, what can they do? In this country they need evidence,
right?” Steve said.
“You Americans are so naïve!” Nanosh rolls her eyes. The
Watcher laughs aloud.
Steve gets a funny look in his eye as he notices that Trash
seems not to be concerned at all and Linda shares his lack of
worry.”
