Chapter 7
The Watcher was a legend known only to the elite in the
counter-espionage business. He had the private numbers of all
the major operatives in the world. No one knew how he
obtained them or why he had them. Nobody knew who he
worked for, except when he was working for them. They did
not know who else he worked for. Nobody really knew who he
was or what he looked like. Nobody even knew what
nationality he was, with the exception of his home country and
their State Department: Israel. He would simply call his
associates and tell them what to do, never coming into physical
contact with them. All anyone ever knew is that he would
contact them, suggest a job he should do and how much they
should pay him by depositing the money in a Cayman Island
account and that he always delivered exactly what he
promised.
He was likely to drink any number of beers and ales depending
upon his mood and location, but he was particularly fond of
double and triple Belgian ales. This is the beer for one who
does not want to drink lots of liquid to get a good buzz. With
food, The Watcher would typically drink port or stout. As
refreshment on a hot day he was partial to Carlsberg Elephant
Malt. He drank like a manly man who knew his beer. He was
also partial to Scotch Whiskey. He was fond of the lighter
