put before her as long as it met the standards of the
Reinheitsgebot, the Bavarian beer purity law which states that
beer could only be made from water, barley, hops and
flavorings. She did not consider anything made in America to
be "beer". She also had a typically Russian penchant for vodka,
her favorite being elite by Stolichnaya. At 70 euros a bottle,
she considered it a bargain.
She was the best known of all spies, once you saw her you
would never forget her, yet she was the most dangerous
because even the best of trained spies could not resist her
beauty, cunning and charm. They were, after all, human beings
at their core. The Watcher did not know what she was doing,
just that she was doing something important. He would watch
until he knew what it was, then turn the information over to
those who would do something about it. That was his way. He
was not the fixer or the thief, just The Watcher. He always
carried a high-powered rifle capable of shooting half-a-mile
accurately using a laser scope, but he had never fired a
weapon while working. He preferred to be the man behind the
scenes.
Out of the corner of his eye he could see all of the men at the
Café turn their heads to look in the same direction. He folded
up his paper without looking; knowing that this meant Natasha
Nosh was in view. Nanosh, as she was affectionately called by
her family, was sauntering down the Boulevard de Magenta
towards her favorite fashion store looking like a spoiled young
