Standard Operating Procedure – Extramural Clinical Placement of Students

Primary Responsibility: Academic Committee
Secondary Responsibility: Clinical Sciences Director/ Clinical Coordinator

Definition:

Purpose: To create a standardized process for placing students in extramural programs for clinical
clerkship credits

Time Frame: 2 MONTH PRIOR TO EXPECTED START DATE

• Student Completes an Application for Elective Clerkship External Site
and return to the Dean’s Assistant. The form must be submitted at
least 2 months in advance of the expected placement date.

• The form is reviewed by representatives of the Clinical Sciences
Director

• The decision made by the Academic Committee is note on the
Application form
