The first Emirati novel ‘Shahenda’ was written
by Rashid Abdullah Al Nuaimi, who is also the
former foreign minister of UAE. He was awarded
with the “Distinctive Emirati Author” award for
his work.
Prominent figures of UAE, like Sheikh Moham-
med bin Rashid (ruler of Dubai), Sheikh Hamdan
bin Mohammed (crown prince of Dubai), and
even the dear founder of UAE, the late Sheikh
Zayed Bin Sultan have authored many books.
Other famous authors include:
Sultan Al Amimi (whose book PO Box 1003 was
adapted to television; one of his books was also
translated into 5 other languages), Mohammad
Al Murr (who writes about the Emirati society;
Dubai Tales being one of these books) and
Ameera Bin Kadra (a children’s author who
writes books in a fun style – one of her works be-
ing the book Good Night).
