The point of Mary’s story was to demonstrate the profound difference between the way she

               understood what was happening at the time and the way clinicians and the service understood
               it. In this way, the audience was able to experience how disempowered and misunderstood

               Mary was in that acute unit, and how clinical practices contributed to that.
