Update:
Following the Board’s approval of the amendment to section 2 of the Legislative Committee Standard
Operating Procedure, a letter was, on 25 May 2020, sent to all Branch/ Chapter Presidents and Committee
Chairpersons advising them of the amendment together with a request for inputs on any legislative or
legal developments in their area of responsibility in order to share the same with all members.
Subsequently inputs on legislative developments in New Mexico and Australia (New South Wales) relating
to chop shops and professional rebirthing operations were received. The Legislative Committee deemed
it appropriate to determine whether similar legislation exists in other jurisdictions as a compendium of
such legislation will be of great assistance to members who are involved in-, or wish to make
recommendations for legislative reform in that regard.
A request for inputs in this regard has already been made and feedback is awaited.
Progress will be reported.
