BOARD PAPER
Agenda Item: 4.40 Western Regional Chapter Report
Author: Carmen Swanson
Date of Meeting: July 23, 2020
Type of Report: For Information Only
Update:
The WRC board was able to meet in May and consult with the board attorney Richard Knapp regarding
voting for board positions 2021. WRC 2020 board members will serve through 2021 election. Each of the
board members have been busy navigating and managing work and family through their State
lockdowns, protest and riots. We are still communicating by email.
January 2020 report notes:
Reach out to underserved areas of the West. 2019 we provided training in Salt Lake City, Utah. In
2020 we will reach out to Montana. We are in early stages of development of training, unless
budget doesn’t allow for travel and training the alternative will be to send 2 Montana agency
members to WRC or IAATI training.
Recommend and change bi law changes to the WRC. Allowing flexibility and bring the bi laws into
the next decade reflecting the electronic age of communication and delivery.
Reach out and involve the State local chapters more in the planning of events and calls.
April 2020 report updates:
The Arizona and Nevada Chapter cancelled their June Seminar in Laughlin, Nevada. CATI
postponed their April Seminar to October. This was the first time Arizona and Nevada were
working together and we had amazing training scheduled. We hope to revisit in 2021.
Our primary goal to achieve in 2020 is to reach out to underserved areas of the West.
Unfortunately because of the COVID-19 restrictions we have tabled that initiative until 2021.
WRC board is still working on recommending bi law changes and updates and will present to the
IAATI board when we are satisfied with the recommendations.
Local chapters monthly and bi-monthly meetings have been postponed until further notice
pending Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the proposed Gateway metrics.
