Once again, BPS employees will be able to enroll
in this year’s sick bank from September 1-30. The purpose of the sick bank is to make available a source from which qualifying employees may be granted additional sick days for his/her personal inpatient and outpatient surgery, emergency medical or psychological treatment with admission to a medical facility, or treatment of a life-threatening or debilitating illness that necessitates absence from work. See eligibility requirements below:
• Minimum sick balance of eight days as of September 30, 2016
• One full year of employment as of September 30, 2016
• Not currently enrolled in DROP
As a reminder, employees already enrolled DO NOT have to re-enroll every year. To enroll please see your site or department secretary.
Teachers new to BPS who hold temporary teaching certificates for 2016-19 are required to pass all parts of the general knowledge test by April 1, 2017. The essay portion of this test takes six to eight weeks to score. Without verification of a passing test score, you will not
be employed by
BPS for next school year. There are no exceptions so do not delay. Sign up for the test at www.fl.nesinc. com.
Brevard Public Schools is excited to announce the opening of three health centers providing convenient and affordable healthcare services to BPS employees, retirees, and their families covered by the health plan. The first of three health centers will be located near ESF in Viera and it is scheduled to open later this year. The second center will be located at Central Middle, and the third one will be at Jackson Middle.
The health centers will be operated by Marathon Health who will focus on wellness and prevention. In addition to the primary care services that you can receive for common illnesses and
injuries, Marathon
Health will offer health
assessments and
coaching to address
lifestyle health concerns.
