“
A student once asked me if learning and self improvement
are endless pursuits. He asked, " Are we to keep trying
forever?"
His que
His question was alluding to the fact that if we always keep
working, keep trying to forever improve our academic
scores, our performance in sports and co curricular,
forever finding where we went wrong, when will we
actually enjoy life? Will not life become monotonous and a
drag if we are forever seeking room for improvement in
order to achieve perfection.
T To think about it, it is a beautifully thought provoking
question.
Pe
Personally, I don't believe that any child ever needs to fit
himself or herself into someone else's frame of perfection.
Perfection is subjective. What is perfect for one person
may not even be half decent for another person. The goal
of life is not to fulfill the world's criteria of excellence but to
fill one's own life with a sense of satisfaction. Aiming for
perfection only induces stress, competition and envy
whe
whereas aiming to give your best will always be satisfying
and fulfilling.
At Millennium we celebrate the life of each child. We
applaud the ones who set benchmarks in their journey of
learning as much as we applaud those who are
continuously trying to give their best based on their own
strengths and weaknesses. The journey through the pages
of 'The Millennium Annual' is a testimony to my belief.
L Let all of us as parents and educators enjoy our children's
journey as they strive to put their best foot forward. Let us
guide them by our desire to live life well with zeal and
excitement and not weigh them down by our desire to
achieve perfection.
Best Regards
Shailja Tandon
