Our young ladies continue to participate in the Girls STEAM Ahead Success VIRTUALLY. Their

first virtual session on April 2 had two mentors present. One was a scientist who has studied
across the globe, and the other is a vet student. The girls were very engaged in the program. Later
in the month, girls participated in another online chat about an all-female team who is working on a
vaccine for the COVID-19 virus as well as the woman who reports the COVID-19 numbers on a
daily basis for the State of Illinois.

Many teachers have moved the format for their class to an online virtual environment that often
includes using the Schoology Conferences feature. We are pleased that Stacy Dunn continues to be
an awesome technology asset for the District.

Jackie Stone was named to College Board’s Pre-AP National Faculty. Onboarding that was planned
for May has been moved to January of 2021.

The STEM Division has met twice a week for the last month to determine best practices in this
unprecedented time. They have worked on having common grading practices, utilizing better ways
to communicate with students, and have encouraged each other.

Weekly virtual meetings with their Division lead to problem solve and identify action steps for the
               team.

Team members share community-related ideas and actively participate in sub-committees to follow
through on ideas (Community Parade, Food Distribution, Senior Celebration, etc). One of our
English teacher’s, Mr. Coughlin, proposed the Community Parade and acted, along with others, as
team players to make the event a success.
We were fortunate to have from our Division two phenomenal educators from our division, there
were two nominees for Teacher of the Year nomination, and our History teacher, Mr. Vlahakis,
received the final nomination as the Teacher of the Year nominee for his dedication and hard work.

Teachers are beginning to utilize Video Conference Chats through Schoology.
