Pilot Courses 2020-21

               Pre-AP World History/Geography + Reading

The instructional model of this course involves Co-Teaching. A traditional Co-Teaching model
normally has one general education and one special education in the classroom. For this pilot,
the general education teacher is paired with a reading specialist instead. The Pre-AP World
History curriculum is reading-intensive and the support of the reading specialist provides the
strategies needed for engagement and comprehension. Due to Covid-19, there is no sufficient
data to analyze to gauge the impact of this model. Moving into the 2021-22 school year, the
pilot will continue and data will be collected, analyzed and reported on the impact, if any.

               Integrated Algebra I

This pilot course focuses on the preparation of skills needed before students engage in the
concepts and skills of algebra. The curriculum takes on concepts of pre-algebra at the beginning
of the course and as the algebra content is incorporated, the pre-algebra skills are transferred
into the algebra content and explored deeper. Students enrolled in the Integrated Algebra I
course continue into the Integrated Geometry course as sophomores. These students receive
an algebra skills overview before the geometry content is presented. The focus of these
courses is to allow students to master mathematical concepts in algebra and geometry and
build the capacity for success in Algebra II/Trig as juniors. Due to Covid-19, there is no sufficient
data to analyze to gauge the impact of this model. Moving into the 2021-22 school year, the
pilot will continue and data will be collected, analyzed and reported on the impact, if any
