WINTER PRIMESTOCK SHOWS
It was a fantastic doubler for young exhibitor, Jack
Whiteford, when he landed multiple red rosettes at
the Borderway Agri-Expo at Carlisle on Friday, 27
October, before going on to secure the Supreme
Champion and Reserve sashes with Beltex-sired duos.
Leading the way having first won the Continental/Down
Championship was his winning pair from the heavy Beltex
class which tipped the scales at 49kg. They are sired by the
home-bred Tercrosset Fast N Furious from the Whiteford
Family’s noted Tercrosset Flock from near Brampton.
From a total of 20 lambs entered which included nine pairs
and two singles, 14-year-old Jack who was helped by twin
sisters, Abbie and Jessica, and Josh Thompson, had a total of
seven pairs forward in the Continental/Down Champion and
saw his winning Young Farmers follow in the hoofsteps of his
Supreme pair to claim the Reserve Continental/Down and
Reserve Supreme honours. They were very similarly bred to the
Supreme pair but this time weighed in at 56kg.
The judge, John Sinnet, was full of praise for the lambs in the
Championship line-up, adding that the Champion and Reserve
pairs were brought out to perfection.
Jack also won the lightweight Beltex class while other red
tickets went to Robert Garth and Sarah Priestley in the
untrimmed continental class, the Hall Family from Inglewood
Edge won the single butchers choice over 50kg lamb with April
Skelton winning the single lamb class while Rosie Garth
headed up the Junior Young Handler Class before winning the
Supreme Young Handler Championship.
