RPE

The NHS and other key front line workers require the use of RPE to allow them to complete their jobs safely in the environment they are working
in. It would be morally wrong and unacceptable to rely on RPE to allow works to occur within 2m of another person when other approaches

   would remove the requirement.

The Construction Line Council SOP Rev3 document which the construction industry as a whole is working to states the below in regards to PPE,
   specifically the use of RPE:-

PPE is a last resort in the hierarchy of controls so we must not be relying on the use of RPE etc. to complete jobs.

As stated previously we must be working to maintain the 2 metre social distancing rules. Works must be planned and managed to prevent the

need to work within 2m of another person. The possible use of mechanical aids or staggered works through to reworking how a task is usually
carried out must be performed prior to a permit be completed to allow the 2m to be temporally relaxed.

The construction industry is also struggling to source dust masks and coveralls with many PPE suppliers on back order for months.
