Tourism Statistics
Contact the local Convention and Visitors Bureaus, Chamber of Commerce, and State Tourism
Agency. This in combination with airline data, can help you get a handle on what type of a
destination a particular location is. If you determine that an area is a tourist “destination”, a
more careful approach may be in order because a good portion of the resident population
could be more on the transient side and once again looking at raw dentist/population ratios
may not tell the entire story.
