Personal Financial Statement
The personal financial statements required by banking institutions today are fairly straight
forward. They are a snap shot in time of your overall financial health. Once established many
banks require them to be updated on a regular basis. I find it to be a great discipline to go thru
and calculate net worth on an annual basis. It can be an eye opening experience. In the left
hand column you list your assets. The right hand column your liabilities. Your net worth is the
difference between your assets and liabilities. For most new graduates, this can be a
substantial negative number.
