                                      The list goes on, and the possibilities are endless. For example, at the University of
                                   Michigan, clubs range from Fantasy Football for Charity to Fun Friends of the Food
                                   Cart, a group of students who aim to explore food cart dining in the area—and that’s
                                   just in the F part of the alphabetical list.
                                      A final point to ponder as you explore everything your school has to offer: Use
                                   your critical thinking skills to find the balance between work and play that suits you.
                                   Some freshmen become so overloaded with activities that it takes a toll on their aca-
                                   demic performance. Others avoid activities and feel disconnected from people and
                                   from the broader college experience. Pace yourself the first year, trying a couple of
                                   activities that interest you and monitoring how well you are managing your time. Eval-
                                   uate periodically and reduce your involvement if you find your studies are suffering.
                                   The right balance will enrich your life without overloading it.
