Eco-Solution:
To enhance the sustainability of the adopted intelligent machine, we propose a comprehensive eco-solution that addresses
several key areas:
1.Redesign of External Interface: The existing bin is designed for paper/textile recycling only. We will redesign the external
interface to accommodate e-waste collection.
2.Solar-Powered System: To remove the reliance on the national grid and minimise carbon emissions, we will incorporate a
solar panel and Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) system into each intelligent machine. This eco-friendly solution will provide
power for the unit while promoting sustainable energy consumption.
3.Compressor Removal: The removal of compressors from the units will not only reduce power requirements but also eliminate
potential hazards such as compressor crashes or battery damage, ensuring safer operation.
4.Shelter and Weather Protection: To ensure continuous recycling operations regardless of weather conditions, we propose
incorporating a sheltered design that allows for e-waste collection during rain, hot sun, or other inclement weather.
5.Ingress Protection Measures: As most smart machines are indoors, it is essential to incorporate ingress protection measures
to prevent damage from water and dust exposure. This will ensure the longevity of the units and maintain their effectiveness
in various environments.
By implementing these eco-friendly solutions, we can significantly reduce the environmental impact of SG Recycle Bin while
promoting a more sustainable approach to e-waste management. (Refer to Figure 8 and Figure 9)
