P. 3
Dear Senior,
I am a senior at Donovan Catholic High School and am thinking that right now, our
lives have become quite similar. Like you, I cannot do what I usually do, and it is not much
fun. My grandparents live across the street, and I am unable to see them, so I do not
jeopardize their health. My grandfather has very bad asthma, so this virus can hurt him
more than many other people. It is hard knowing that they are right there, and I can do
nothing to help.
I am an extrovert, so on a regular day I'd be at school, then work, and then hanging
out with friends, before I even think about going home. Now that I am home seven days a
week, it is hard. I live with two siblings with severe mental challenges, a very energetic dog,
and a newly single mother trying to adapt to teaching online. It is hard to keep my sanity
when trying to work at home with all the chaos. But I could only imagine how it would be if I
were by myself.
Hopefully, the story I am about to share with you will brighten your day. It was my
sophomore year at flex (our lunch), and I was helping my friend get ketchup out of a
dispenser. With five minutes left of lunch, the dispenser was clogged, and a boy tried to
“help us” by pushing it as fast and as hard as he could, which ended up with me being
covered in ketchup right before I took my math test. It was in my hair, on my school
sweater, and none of it ended up in the cup that it was supposed to be in. I ended up
getting a 100 on that math test, so maybe the ketchup was a lucky charm. I would love to
hear a high school story that you had and hope to hear it soon!
My family usually has a huge Easter, filled with every food imaginable, and a giant
egg hunt. So, maybe I won't gain five pounds in one day this year. It won't be the same
without everyone, but we have to make the best of the situations we are in. I hope you have
a blessed Easter and can't wait to hear some stories you have to share!
Sincerely,
Madelynn
P.S.: Stay safe and healthy!
