Introduction

        On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Renovation Planning Committee, management respectfully submits the enclosed
                                                                                            th
        comprehensive presentation on the Club’s renovation project. The Club, now in its 115 year of operation, has largely benefited
        from this historical home built in 1890 in a Romanesque style originally as a private home for the Gooderham family. The most
        significant changes to the building were the construction of an extension to the dining room in 1911 and later a small addition to the
        east end of the building in 1929 which enlarged the kitchen. The Verandah above the kitchen was added in 1958, and an elevator
        was inserted in 1991. The kitchen was last renovated in 1993. To this day, the Club retains a true feeling of a ‘home away from
        home’, due to its architecture, warm and cozy atmosphere, small membership and dedicated staff.

        Two critical pillars of The YORK Club experience are excellence in dining and personal service. Over the past 10 years, Member
        usage has risen 15% overall, and the number of meals served is approaching 30,000 per year. The greatest increase in usage has
        been in à la carte dining and during the summer season in the Garden. With the increase in Members’ usage and thus demands on
        our aging facility, the time has come to modernize the building in an effort to:
                • maintain the Club’s long-term viability;
                • attract new Members, and;
                • continue to count ourselves amongst the top tier of social dining clubs in North America.

        As you familiarise yourself with this information package on the Club’s renovation project, Members can contact myself or any
        Member of the Renovation Planning Committee should you have questions. We hope to see you in person or on zoom at the Special
                                          th
        General Meeting on December 12 .
        This has been a long process powered by the efforts of many people. I want to thank the Renovation Planning Committee, Board of
        Directors and Management Team, who have worked together to prepare this comprehensive project proposal with the goals of
        having it approved by the membership and moving the Club forward into a bright future.

        Sincerely,

        Cyril Duport
        Secretary General Manager
