Membership
The YORK Club currently has 560 Members, its largest complement in 20 years. Since admitting its first female Member in
1993, the Club has striven for and now achieved a gender balance — including spouses — of 452 men and 464 women.
The average age of a Member is 71.54, and the Club has been attracting an average of 30 New Members per year at an
average age of 63.67. Membership at The YORK Club is by invitation only, and application requests are now wait-listed;
there are no plans to increase the overall size of our membership.
The membership has grown approx. 15% since 2016, with New Members spending 19% more annually at the Club than
the average Member overall.
Despite the invitation-only nature of membership, there is constant interest from the broader Toronto community. The
Club’s Net Promoter Score ranks among the highest in the Canadian private club industry, meaning existing Members are
not only introducing friends and colleagues to the Club environment but actively encouraging them to join.
Furthermore, 93% of existing Members are satisfied with the Club’s application and approval process; the budget for 30
New Members annually is both conservative and realistic since there continues to be strong interest from qualified new
candidates for membership.
No longer is The YORK Club solely the home for traditional Toronto families; today its membership is dynamic, and its
discreet marketing efforts are being undertaken with the goal of reflecting the diverse community and leaders of
downtown Toronto.
