During the Spring & the start of Summer we have 3 new champions ……. all male this time. Two are
from our “Midlands” area and one comes from quite a distance away in North Devon in the South West.
The new champion from Devon is Ch. Dragonsway Tom Thumb owned & bred jointly by Mrs. Anne
Cummins & Mrs. Sylvia Rodgers and handled in the ring by Anne. His breeding is basically English &
Welsh but he also has very good Italian blood in his pedigree. Anne has always been a keen Walt Disney film
watcher so when the litter was born 3 years ago the smallest one was named Tom Thumb. If you know the
film you will know that “small is great”. As time went on Tommy (his pet call name) defied his name & grew
on to a lovely size. Tommy is a very laid back, gentle boy always a little aloof from his brothers & sisters. He
has a real liking for slippers …. his favourite trick is to stick his nose deep into a slipper and go to sleep.
Then when he wakes up he takes the slipper off down the garden so you have to go & find it. He loves shows
& can’t wait to get into the car & head off for the show.

The next champion, Ch.Miketilla Rocket Man, was homebred by Ms. Elaine Cannon at the well-known
Miketilla kennels. Elaine writes :- “Ch. Miketilla Rocket Man JW is a combination of mainly English but
also American and Russian lines. His dam, Ch. Miketilla Mayah JW, is one of the very few UK champion
bitches who have bred. He is the youngest of my dogs to have been awarded a CC – at his second show at
just 6 months of age – and he finished the year as Top Puppy in Breed in 2016. Frustratingly it took his
puppy nearly a year to transition to a solid colour adult coat so he was not shown for most of 2017. It was
worth the wait as at his first show in 2018 he was awarded his 2nd. CC with Best of Breed and his crowning
CC followed close behind.
