“Rocky” was born on Bonfire Night, when there are a lot of fireworks,
so this is how he came to be named Rocket Man - also alluding
to the song by Elton John. His famous great grandsire was named
“Starman” so this was also a link.
Rocky lives the life of a spoilt housedog and is always looking for the
opportunity to have a big fuss. He particularly likes lying under any
chair you are sitting in or laying across any door you wish to get out of
-- a typical Chow really!”

Our most recently crowned champion is the black Ch. Kwaitang
Kole Porter at Lechan, bred by Arlene Robinson (Kwaitang),
owned by Pam & Stef Godber (Lechan) & handled as always by
Stef. Kole is litter brother to Ch. Kwaitang Kristian of Kyong who
is a winner of 35 CCs. Kole was sired by Ch/Ir. Ch. Cherrymount
Good To Be Black for Lechan JW & he is the 4th. champion to
be sired by him. Kole won a Reserve CC at just 6 months old &
would have continued his winning ways if he had not been 2 years
out of the ring with a coat issue. Blacks are always difficult to keep
in good coat and Kole proved it. Eventually back in the show ring
he won his first CC in 2015, his second in 2017 then collecting
5 Reserve CCs on the way until the crowning one this Summer.
Pam & Stef had begun to think he would be a “nearly” dog. He
really enjoys his trips to Southern Ireland and the show scene
there & has won a Green Star & many Reserve Green Stars. Pam
& Stef have never regretted choosing him from the litter as he is
a wonderful character, very good natured & very gentle as well as
being quite energetic as seen in his “joy of living” in the show ring.

This year we are experiencing an unusually hot (for us!) & extended Summer. For several weeks now the
temperature has been about 35C (90+ F) & there’s no sign yet of it breaking. It means we must all be
very careful that our chows don’t get overheated & have plenty of shade. Luckily I haven’t heard of any
overheated chows yet, not even at shows, & we all hope they stay safe. By the time you read this we’ll
probably all be experiencing & grumbling about the cold!!
