Article 2. Specific Policies and Guidelines on Recruitment, Appointment
and Promotion of Faculty. A faculty is a member of an academic
personnel engaged in actual teaching, research and extension
assignment either on full-time or part-time.
Section 1. Faculty Responsibilities
a) Instruction focuses on the process of facilitating the
acquisition of knowledge and skills to develop analytical
and creative faculties of learners. It also includes other
specific tasks such as student consultation, academic
advising, and all other initiatives that facilitate the process
of learning.
Every faculty member is expected to:
Identify learner needs
Prepare and follow a course syllabus based on the
needs identified;
Facilitate the learning process through active
engagement in classroom tasks and activities
Develop students’ analytical and creative thinking
skills through purposive activities with focus on
higher order thinking skills
Design alternative and innovative models of teaching
for all types of students: regular, gifted, and those
with special needs
Make oneself available for consultation, academic
advising and other relevant functions that can help
improve the students’ well being
Manifest a strong commitment to development of
highly competent and qualified graduates by
constantly improving one’s craft
Vary teaching methodologies and techniques in the
pursuit of effective teaching and learning process
Attend University affairs such as academic council’s
meetings if applicable, commencements rites,
foundation and University week activities and
faculty development programs.
b) Research. Faculty members need to continually explore
areas of inquiry through active participation in research
endeavors. They are expected to:
