Pine-Richland School District - Return to School
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Parents

students, however, the everyday option is removed at this level. This results in the lowest number of
students in physical attendance to maximize physical distancing.

               Grades 7-12 Options
For middle school and high school, students also have two choices but the delivery model is slightly
different (100% virtual or A/B Schedule). The differences are based on the level of independence of
students. They are also based on the robust nature of the program of students and variations in courses. As
a starting point for the year with plans to run through the end of September at least, this model
significantly reduces the number of students in physical attendance. It increases the importance – however
               – that students at home can stay on track with curriculum pacing and learning. The increased
independence of students will allow them to follow along with direct instruction and continue engagement
in learning activities in a more synchronous environment.

               IEP (Special Education/
               Tier III)
The Student Services and Special Education Department will contact you directly if your child qualifies
with an IEP (Special Education/Tier III) to have the following options:
Children can attend every day or participate physically on an alternate day schedule. For the alternating
schedule, this will be determined by alphabet (See next question.). For example, if a Monday is
considered “A” day, then Tuesday is “B” day. Wednesday would be “A” day. That pattern continues. This
reduces the number of students in the
classroom at one time. By reducing
               students, we increase physical distancing.
When at home (in the blue), these students
will be able to see the interactive display
board in the classroom, access materials,
and listen to the teacher. These students
also have the option of participating in
               100% virtual instruction – K-6 children
will be taught by a teacher designated as a
virtual teacher or if in 7-12, these students
will remotely connect to the classroom
and follow the same schedule as in-person
               students.

Q: How will I know what day my child
goes to school and which day he or she
logs on virtually via the AB option?
A: Students with the last name starting
with A through K (AK) would start in-
person on A day. Students with the last
name beginning with L through Z (LZ)
would begin virtually on A day. A-K
students would then log on remotely on B
Day with L-Z students attending school in
