Pine-Richland School District FAQs









                                                 Year-End Events


               Q: Will the high school still distribute academic awards to students in grades 9,
               10, and 11?
               A: Students in grades 9, 10, and 11 who have earned honor roll status for each of the first three
               quarters of the 2019-2020 school year will receive a recognition letter and certificate in the mail
               during the month of May.

               Q:  How will yearbooks be received by families?
               A: This will be a building-based decision that will require collaboration with the PTO. We will
               continue to monitor the health and safety guidelines from the state and CDC and will update the
               families as we are able. Look for future communications from the Principal and PTO.

               Q:  How will transition activities be handled between buildings (Ex: grade 3 to
               grade 4, grade 6 to grade 7, grade 8 to grade 9)
               A: Eden Hall will provide an online orientation presentation in May to parents and students and
               possibly provide a late summer building visitation program for students and families. PRMS will
               be sending out a virtual Move-Up Day presentation in the middle of May to all 6th-grade
               students. PRMS will also look into options for having a summer orientation for students and
               families.  PRHS will provide a late summer building orientation for students and families.


               Q:  Will STAR-360 benchmarking still occur in May for all students?
               A:  Yes. Students will be able to complete their testing from home during the benchmarking
               window. Step-by-step directions will be sent with screenshots to aid in the process. This
               assessment will be an important piece of information to help monitor academic growth and
               achievement for students. STAR-360 testing will be completed for students in grades K - 8.

               Q:  What should I do with all of my student’s learning activities from the course of
               the COVID-19 closure?
               A:  Learning activities can be retained by the family. Your child(ren)’s teacher should be
               communicating the method used for turning in learning activities. Physical paper copies do not
               need to be turned in to the school.


               Q: Have there been any changes to the district academic calendar through the
               end of the year?
               A: The board approved a change at its meeting on April 20th. The last student day will be
               Friday, May 29th. The staff will engage in professional development activities during the first
               week of June.
