and esteeming others better than ourselves.
Now, why does this have to be repeated
over and over and over again? Because of
the prideful, sinful nature of humanity.
So we find here a vain glory. We see it
all around us. We see it sometimes in the
church. It is that boasting or vaunting
ourselves to be superior to others. It is a
self-exaltation, the desire to have honor. It
is that pride of who we are or what we have.
In 2 Corinthians 12:7 the apostle Paul says,
“And lest I should be exalted above measure
through the abundance of the revelations,
there was given to me a thorn in the flesh,
the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I
should be exalted above measure.” Vain
