the doctrine of God. We are to wrap ourselves
up in it, clothe ourselves in it and not in fables
and fiction. Fables feed upon the lust of carnal
men. They keep us from meditating upon
reality. Fiction confuses reality — that's just the
bottom line — and we have a lot of fiction in
the world today. Paul tells Timothy and Titus to
preach, preach, preach the Word, preach the
Word, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering. He
said just keep preaching and preaching and
preaching the Word because there was a
problem with fables in the first century as there
is today.
Paul says in Titus chapter 1 and verse 14, “Not
giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments
of men”— what’s the next few words? — “that
turn from the truth.” Whether it be Jewish or
Gentile fables, they turn people’s hearts and
