Christians can inadvertently denigrate
God’s Word by trying to force it on seared
consciences and reprobate minds (Matthew
7:6). In the parable of the sower and the
seed in Matthew chapter 13, the “good
ground” in verse 8 is a receptive soul who
will listen to or read God’s Word, repent and
believe the gospel (Mark 1:15), and
subsequently produce spiritual fruit, “some
an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some
thirtyfold.” God knows where the “good
ground” is, just as Jesus knew where the fish
were in John 21:6, and God will arrange all
the necessary circumstances for a receptive
heart to understand and believe the gospel
