for perverting the words of the living God,

and in verses 39 and 40, God pronounces

judgment for that perversion: “Therefore,

behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you, and

I will forsake you, and the city that I gave

out of
you and your fathers, and cast you

my presence: And I will bring an everlasting

reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame,

which shall not be forgotten.”

So to rejoice in the truth would relate to

how a person responds to the truths of

God’s Word. When Jesus, Who was the

embodiment of the Word of God when He

walked upon this earth (John 1:1), spoke to

the two disciples on the road to Emmaus
