privates.” In other words, they may say, “Well,

you’re not naked as long as you have a bikini

on,” but those who know the Scriptures would

define nakedness totally different from

that. Why? Because of a Biblical perspective

and point of view.

In 1 John 2 verse 15 we’re going to be

considering three areas of temptation. The

Puritan writers referred to what we’re going to

read in this passage as “the world’s trinity” – in

other words, the quest for pleasure and for profit

and for position. All temptations will come

from these three areas that we’re going to read

in this passage. As we consider this subject,

many don’t even know what “the world” is. I

have a quote that I got from a preacher friend of

mine that he actually got from another preacher,

and it’s based on 1 John 5:4 in defining the

world. And here’s what he said: “Anything that
