JOE RIDER 2022




                                                                The  combined  Hunter  Road  Safety
                                                                Officers (RSO) of Port Stephens, Maitland,
                                                                Cessnock, Mid Coast and Singleton/Upper
                                                                Hunter  Councils  will  be  running  the  ‘Joe
                                                                Rider’ motorcycle awareness campaign as
                                                                part  of  our  Motorcycle  Awareness  Month
                                                                activities in October 2022.

                                                                Joe  Rider  aims to reduce  the  occurrence
                                                                of SMIDSY crashes, and entails promoting
                                                                a  week  where  the  local  community  is
                                                                encouraged to spot ‘Joe Rider’ and enter a
                                                                competition.  The  goal  of  the  campaign  is
                                                                to  encourage  road  users  to  look  out  for,
                                                                and notice motorcycle riders – particularly
                                                                in urban areas.

                                                                The Hunter wide campaign will run for one
    week Monday 17 October 2022 to Friday 21 October 2022 during Motorcycle Awareness
    Month.

    Local volunteer motorcycle riders are currently being sought to be ‘Joe Rider’ for each day
    of the week across each of the local government areas listed above. Hi Vis vests featuring
    ‘Joe Rider’ on the back will be provided to all of our ‘Joe’s’ to wear whilst volunteering. We
    will also be providing refreshment vouchers for you to take a fatigue break during your ride.

    If you or any member of your organisation would like to volunteer as ‘Joe’ for a day (or
    more than one if you want) – we’d love to hear from you.
