WEDNESDAY RIDE – 29 December 2021
A trifecta, well of sorts.
By Ride Leader Mike Parker
A group of three events on one ride might be considered too much, well one we could have
done without. Details shall be revealed in due course.
A group of 7 braved the early sun, 35 degrees at 0830 when we departed. Before moving on
through the first event. Drum roll maestro please!
A new bike in the group, well new to Paul who purchased his 1200 Trumpy from over east.
Great looking machine in awesome condition.
Given the weather a short ride to Moore River where hopefully being near the coast the weather
might just be cooler. On the way out it sat around 35 so not too bad. Pom mentioned that he
believed the cafe at Moore River was under new management but felt confident that they will
be open give the festive season and the opportunity to make money was high!!
Traditional run Old Yanchep, Military road onto Indian Ocean drive. Pom was TEC and given
the size of the group no corner marking.
Group stayed together but when we arrived at Moore River two events. Firstly the bloody cafe
was closed! It appears to me that it only seems to happen on the rides I lead, bugger! And
secondly where the hell was Pom?
After muttering about the closed cafe for a few minutes the dulcet tones of Pom’s machine
were heard and he arrived with a big smile. I cannot believe this but, yes it is true. Pom saw a
hat, yes a bloody hat on the side of the road and stopped to pick it up, whilst doing that he
noticed a 10 dollar note laying in close proximity so into his swag went both items!
Many comments re what can best be described as a Panama hat though several non politically
correct adjectives were also used.
So turn around and down the highway to Cafe 301. Hot day out but was enjoyable.
