                                WEDNESDAY WANDERERS’ REPORTS

            WEDNESDAY RIDE – 8 December 2021
            A Vetustissima Cocktail

            From the ride-leader’s doting dogsbody

                                                          o
It were forecast to be a stinker of a day, 37 at the coast and 40+ inland. The turn-out (eight)
reflected both this fact and the fragility of some of our parishioners. When it was time to
discuss our route and destination we’d all informally settled on a short Market Garden Meander
then onwards through Two Rocks to the Lagoon Café in Yanchep. It was (thought to be) a
well-reasoned plan, avoiding the heat that would have come from a foray inland or from a
protracted ride anywhere. It also promised to provide an early and lengthy stop whilst we fed
and watered ourselves and indulged in an exchange of news, opinion, repartee, and
            irreverence. Purrfeck.

Karen agreed to lead and Dave H to herd from the rear. As we pulled out of Maccas a ninth
rider arrived, Nigel P, late once again.

It’s always a pleasant potter through the market gardens, all of that produce being coaxed out
of the earth for our sustenance, including exotics like avocados and mangoes. It was a surprise
to find out over coffee that several of our mob hadn’t been through there before. Another
welcome surprise was riding through an area downwind of some heavy irrigation sprays.
            Instant air conditioning!
