COMMITTEE CHATTER
Welcome to the first meeting of 2022 and to the new format on how the Joondalup Ulysses
will be guided, Branch Committee by Consensus.
The first thing the new Branch Committee would like to do is express our sincere thanks to
both Karen and Voula for their efforts at the helm over what can only be described as difficult
times.
Karen has had the unenviable task of branch president over the past three years, two of those
that have been affected by the Covid 19 outbreak. Over this period of uncertainty, Karen dealt
with our meeting place closure and establishing a new venue, developing the popular monthly
th
social nights and ladies high teas, organizing our highly successful 20 anniversary function
while at the same time planning for and completing the running of a fantastic September
Odyssey at Muresk on behalf of Joondalup. Over her time as president, Karen maintained a
close control on our running budget of which enabled all members to benefit from at our
various functions. Even after the expense of the Odyssey, we have been left with a healthy
account to run forward with.
Voula generously took over the role of secretary from the cold to help out our branch when
Ken took on NatCom duties. This was also in a period when the actual constitutional running
of branch meetings was being realised, resulting in changes in the way meetings need to be
run. Even with her own heavy workloads, Voula committed herself to the branch and that is
very much appreciated.
Hopefully you will all support the new committee concept of running the branch. We will require
your help in guiding what directions we take and will appreciate your input with ideas for social
events, special functions, charity options and of course better ways of doing things.
Remember, all branch members are invited to any of our committee meetings.
The new committee realises we have a task before us but with your support, believe we can
keep the Joondalup Ulysses Branch a welcoming, strong and fun motorbike/social club of
which to belong.
