           Pennefather
A beautiful camping and fishing spot. Head north to the
Pennefather River – that pretty lagoon is not for swimming,
watch long enough and you’ll probably see a croc pop its head
up. There’s also good shady camping to the south. There is no
boat ramp, launching is off the beach.

           Facilities: No amenities

           Clough Landing
20km south of Mapoon is the Clough Landing boat ramp, the
perfect spot to launch straight into the Wenlock River.

Note: Some of the areas above may be closed at times for

           Mapoon
North of Weipa, across the Mission River and a further 81km,
           you’ll come to Mapoon.

Today, a thriving small village and gateway to a couple of the
Cape’s favourite camping and fishing spots, Mapoon is an
example of how a community can get together and overcome
seemingly insurmountable obstacles to reclaim their land and
           lifestyle.

The store caters for food, ice and bait. Across the road is a
waterpark, great for the kids to cool down. The Wild Cape Cafe
next door is renowned for its burgers with residents of Weipa
often coming out just for a feed.
With reliable fuel supplies, it’s another great ‘slightly off the
main track’ destination. A popular beach fishing and camping
spot is a few kms further north at Cullen Point.
           Cullen Point
A 9km drive north from Mapoon brings you to Cullen Point, a
quiet camping spot on the beach at the mouth of the Wenlock
and Ducie rivers, it’s a popular beach fishing spot.
