           North of Weipa
Head north and there’s a whole lot more…

           Mission River Bridge
First up – there’s no fishing from the bridge!! However, there is
fishing from the banks and the southern side is equipped with a
landing. Many species have been landed from the shore and by
boat. The night-time often produces more landed fish than
           during the day.

           Andoom River
On the northern bank of the Andoom River you’ll find a dirt boat
ramp. A popular place to wet a line but do be aware that many
           crocodiles inhabit the area.

           Red Beach (Prunung)
Almost immediately after crossing the Andoom River Bridge is
the turn off to Red Beach and Bouchat. Red Beach offers good
opportunities for fishing. Take note of the piles of shells, they
are in fact middens accumulated over hundreds of years –
           camping is not permitted.

           Bouchat
As above, follow the signs to Bouchat on the often-rutted dirt
road to the sandy beach frontage. Bouchat is for day visits
only, please respect the country – camping is not permitted.

           Stones Crossing
38km from Weipa is Stones Crossing. The crossing has plenty of
deep holes and is well known to have a crocodile or two
dwelling in its waters. It is tidal, so bear that in mind when
           choosing when to cross.

A new track from Stones Crossing to Bramwell Junction has
recently been opened. The track is narrow, steep and some
winching may be required – it is not suitable for caravans.
It borders the Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve, please respect this
property and do not stray from the track.
