           Keatings Lagoon (Mulbabidgee)
Five km south of Cooktown, still along the Mulligan Highway, is
Keatings Lagoon Conservation Park. The 47-hectare park
protects a scenic wetland in the Annan River catchment, an
important refuge for thousands of waterbirds that flock there in
           the dry season.

The 1.4km easy return walk sees you wandering along the edge
of the lagoon to the bird hide or picnic area.

The area has been a source of food and medicine for the
Traditional Owners for thousands of years.

The Aboriginal Traditional Owners of this park, the Waymbuurr
clan of the Guugu Yimidhirr people, welcome you to their
country and ask that you respect their special place.

Mount Cook National Park Hiking Trail
A 6km (return), somewhat strenuous walk, from the Hannam
Street carpark in Cooktown, will bring you to the summit of Mt
Cook with panoramic views of the Great Barrier Reef, the
           eastern coastline and Cooktown.
